Heres What Blair’s night looked like.
Thomas Eukovich was killin the ramp all night. He was also loving the pool coping-Back Smith
Here Sean Ross shows the correct way to hide your identity from freaks-Huge Front side air
John Gacuma had the crowd going wild that night. My favorite quote of the night was from a good friend “POO SCREEN” who said “I saw your homie in the parking lot smoking and he looked hammered as shit, and he couldn’t even talk, then he rolled in here and he was destoryin shit!”. John doing what he does well Flying.
I have been running into the very good homie Tosh Rice a lot and that makes me happy. Here he runs into the wall but is not worried and jumps back into the tranny.
I dont know if Raymond Diaz should have a “Lazy Boy” under him or some wires holding him up but this foot plant went right back in fakie, no problem! If you dont know who he is search his name on You Tube

I’ve been shooting for about 3 years and have had a few things in various magazines. Here’s the photo in order of their appearance and the story behind it.
Sean Malto doing this front crook was the first photo I had in a magazine. This was in 2006 while I was still in high school. I able to shoot this photo because of my newspaper class. My teacher was really cool and somehow I convinced him to buy 2 flashes, an infrared slave (back then I didn’t know about radio slaves), and a fisheye all on the schools credit card. I told him those things would be good for newspaper photos. Anyways I had been using the new equipment for a few days before this front crook and still didn’t really know what I was doing. All be the first one to admit it but I was nervous shooting this trick. I didn’t really know what I was doing, it was the best skateboard trick I’ve ever shot, I just wanted everything to work out so people didn’t get bummed. In the end it all worked out and turned out to be an Analog ad. I was hyped!
Before I was in the good graces of Transworld I was submitting to every magazine. This sequence of Sean Malto doing a pop shuvit crook was the first photo I had it Skateboarder Magazine. It ran pretty small but I was hyped non the less. The day we shot this was pretty cool, Sean came through with getting about 4 photos. The dude kills it!
As you probably already know by seeing his interview, Rhett Freeman kills it. When I shot this photo I was going to school in Savannah, Georgia, about 4 hours south east of Atlanta. I was doing my final project for a class on skateboarding. I drove the 4 hours every weekend to come up to Atlanta and shot skating. This photo was the first photo I shot of Rhett. Every time I came up from Savannah to shoot he got a photo. In under a year Rhett got an interview in FTK Magazine. It was the first interview I had ever done for a magazine and it turned out pretty good. This photo was his opener photo.
This is definitely one of the craziest sequences I’ve ever shot. Rhett did this trick already but I wasn’t able to shoot it. So he went back and did it again and then we went across the street and ate pizza. It was a rad day. This sequence was in his interview for FTK.
Sean Conover had an interview in the same issue of FTK. Again this was the first photo I had ever shot with him. Crailslide on a street rail is pretty crazy! This was the only good frame on the roll of film, I got pretty lucky.
This was the cover for the issue of FTK with Sean and Rhett’s interview. I was pretty hyped they used it for the cover! Sean Conover noseblunt.
This was the first photo I ever had in Transworld. Sean Malto nollie crooking while there’s still salt on the ground from the ice and snow.
I entered Slap’s Focus Contest last year. I didn’t win but this they did use this photo of Josh White doing a kickflip into a hill in Kansas City.
This is my most resent photo in a magazine before I came over to Transworld. Ryan Pearce backside crailslide for the contest page of FTK.

Stephen “Venner” Criger Interview
Frontboard in an abandon car dealership
Name: Stephen Criger
Age: 18
Sponsors: BC skateshop
Nickname: Venner
Grinder pop out
Everyone calls you Venner, how did that name come about?
When I was like 12 or 13 I met Chris Thiessen, and he decided I didn’t look like a Stephen, so he took the endings of my name (assuming my name was spelling with a v) steVEN crigER, Venner, I don’t know, it obviously stuck haha.
People also call you “Man Child” right? Why is that?
I guess i’ve been big for my age haha
Whenever I hang out with you the strange occurrence always happen. You let out this loud animal like yell called “Yettie”. Tell me about this Yettie yell that lingers inside of you?
It’s wild. it bums people out too haha
Let’s hear about one of the gnarlest yetties you’ve ever done.
Long story short, we were in Chicago, it was 4 AM, I had just got done pissing all over this chick’s bathroom. Then I let the yettie rip hahah I got kicked out shortly after that.
Nollie backside 5-0
What how is filming for Chris Thessian’s new video Meanwhile going?
It’s been so fun man! We’ve gone on trips to Chicago, California, and New York. We’ve been skating more than ever while we’re home. I’m really psyched on how everything’s going.
Venner wallrides while Chris films
Is it any different than filming for Chris’s last video Scarlet Fever?
Big time! That was Chris’s first video he’s ever done. Meanwhile looks more professionally done i guess. it’s hard to explain, i guess you’ll just have to see for yourself.
Straight up wallie over this thing
Are you pushing your self harder for this video?
Yeah for sure. Especially lately and it’s taking a toll on me. I’ve been hurt on and off for the past 4 months and taken some pretty harsh slams. I’m actually typing this mostly left handed right now because yesterday I got completely broke off and fucked my wrist up super bad haha.
Close shave 5-0
You’ve done a lot for someone so young, tell me about the cross country trip you went on last summer with your friend. Let’s hear some sketchy things you did.
Yeah that trip was so fun! It was just me and friend Davis and we just camped out or slept in the car the whole time. While we were in portland my friend Scott took us up to this river in the mountains and we were jumping off cliffs all day. I ended up landing on a rock from about 30 feet up and destroyed my heel. But the sketchiest thing we did for sure was picking up this hitchhiker in Wyoming. His name was Paulie and he was out of it. He rode with us for almost 3 hours, just telling the most insane stories about doing meth with the sheriffs out there, he told us how he wanted to kill his old boss because he threw away his favorite tape measure, and told us about his friend in California that we should to meet up with to buy drugs from. He said the guy was homeless and he doesn’t speak, but he’d listen to us and get us what we need hahaha. He said he had Youtube videos up and we found them. It’s just him talking about ridiculous shit. Search “crazypaulie” hahaha!
Nollie full cab over some plants
What is your favorite things about Atlanta?
My friends that live here! It doesn’t get too cold in the winter too, that’s a plus.
Do you think you’ll ever move out of Georgia?
Probably. I’m planning on moving to New York next summer, but i think I’ll end up coming back here. Atlanta’s sick.
Polejam on a straight pole down the little drop
What’s your favorite thing about skateboarding in Atlanta?
Most of the dudes that skate here are rad, and plus there’s a ton of spots. There are always new spots to be found, it just takes some lurking.
What is another state that you really like skateboarding wise?
New York is really sick, and I like Kansas because Ryan Lovell lives there. That dude fuckin rips!!!
Any last words?
YEEEAAAA!

The Windy City Excursion
by asmith on Aug.20, 2008, under Trips, Uncategorized
A few months ago, some of my friends from Kansas City and Atlanta took a trip up to Chicago. Non of us drove so our only means of getting around were public transportation and our skateboards. It was definitely a different experience because both Kansas City’ns and Atlanta’ns drive everywhere. It was a hell of a lot of fun pushing through the city but lugging heavy camera gear wasn’t much of a blast. We didn’t get much “photo worthy” stuff done but still had a good time. Most of out nights we spent double fisting Old Styles and ranging different apartments. Definitely tore it up in that aspect. An explanation to almost anything was “Hey, it’s got to be the Old Style”. Check out the photos from our weekend excursion.
View it full screen, it will look better!

What’s your favorite things about atlanta?
I love the endless unexplored sprawl of atlanta. You can pretty much just pick any old little town off the map drive there.. and find something really unique and often frustrating to skate. I also like how you can be in the city and five minutes down the road be in the woods in what seems to be the middle of nowhere.
How is filming going for Chris Thiessen’s new video Meanwhile?
Dude its been a blast. The group of guys that are a part of it are amazing.. super positive and very versatile and just truly legit dudes. We have been taking fun trips and exploring all over Georgia finding awesome new stuff to skate. It doesn’t hurt that Chris is the most motivated dude that films and who is down to go just about anywhere you want to go, including the hood. His filming is amazing and im glad he puts up with my relentless pathetic attempts at spots. But really overall its going really good.. i think people are going to be really stoked on how it turns out.
Fakie frontside flip into the bank
Tell me about these nasty text messages I hear about that you send out?
It started with me and Venner really. I had this harsh job where i was up at like six am sitting in traffic on my way to work…bored out of my mind. So i would sit there and think of the most vile things I could think of to send to him. I mean honestly there is nothing better than picturing someone trying to respond to the things I send them. And often even better is their responses back… However they could never compare to what my mind thought up. If i recall you received several of my little beauties.
What do the words “say buster” mean?
“SAY BUSTA”, ‘HEY HUSSLA” “AY MAN”, “YO PLAYA” just to name a few, is some form of communication that takes place in the Atlanta area. I mean alot of times when I hear some of the things being yelled in the city.. I do not think its coming from humans.. but to my surprise when I look.. I see people. Im no scientist, but i think that its some kind of language amongst the bums of the city. But when you hear it you can be rest assured that the next thing out of the things mouth will be… “Let me get a dolla man”. We came up with a plan by just beating them to the “say hussla”, This seems to be working as a repellant for beggars.
Backside 180 over bush and into parking lot
What do you think about the manchild aka Venner?
I think he is a big baby. No, but what do i really think? If he could just put the weed down for a minute.. I would say he has some potential. No but really, that kid is gnarly! I have never seen someone take the beatings that kid has and keep on going. I mean he may shed a tear or two in the process but homeboy gets it done.
Who is my favorite person to skate with in Atlanta?
Chris Theissen, He is so positive that its gross.. but i like it.
Wallie off the ATM and over the sidewalk
You lived in California for awhile, how was that?
Living in california was great.. I moved around alot, San Diego, Thousand oaks, Huntington beach so i got a good taste of all parts of southern california. I cant decide if the cost of living got the best of me or it was good old home sickness. But I am way glad to be back in the south.

I went up to Huntington Beach a few weeks ago and meet up with Adam Dyet, Ryan Decenzo, and Jake Duncomb. We didn’t really get much skating done that day but I did run into a unusual event that makes a skater stop trying a trick. Shoe blow up.

Skatepark madness
by asmith on Aug.08, 2008, under Uncategorized
I don’t know if this is normal for other people but the park I went to tonight was nuts. Here’s the line up…
Skatepark next to 4 basketball and volley ball courts.
The skatepark was filled with lingering football carrying jocks.
Sluttly dressed 13 year old girls and very outspoken sexualy frustrated boys smoking cigerets and making passes at eachother.
Grandparents hanging out by the bowls watching their grandkid slowly bike a foot up the tranny.
Waist high drug dealing 12 year olds.
Lastly a man standing in the middle of the park reading the bible aloud.
And to top it all off my buddy Garrett ate a lot of shit on this rail and couldn’t breath for a few minutes.
So check out these photos of this epic park. Ah I love Georgia!
Thanks Kris!

I’ve been staying with Kris Markovich for about a month now. I asked him to paint the clear hand plastic case covering my mac. I woke up today to head to the airport and I saw this laying in front of me. I couldn’t be more happy. Thanks again Kris!

Weekend with Sean Conover and Jlo
by asmith on Aug.05, 2008, under Trips, Uncategorized

I spent this past weekend with Sean Conover and my buddy Jlo who flew in from Kansas City. We spent out weekend mostly skating around San Diego. Here’s photos and an epic video from our stay in SD.
We started our weekend by meeting up with Sean at his house.
Which was filled with chick wanting Sean.
Here’s the board Sean got from his buddies at Foundation while he was in the hospital for a month.
This is what happens when you bail 180 a gnarly gap when someone is kicking you out and you don’t have enough speed.

This is what it looked like. Jlo reenacted Sean’s pain.
Jlo gives a thumbs down to this spot.
We went to this rough ditch in the middle of the day in the hot sun with no water.
Jlo cut his finger on some glass and had to do his trick with this “bandage”.
We check out this spot but were beat out by the company picnic.
Sean need to wash his pants for sure!
Sweaty ass dude!
Jlo’s feeling towards this coffee joint.
Kickin it on the beach.
We saw this dude who was feeding the fire on the board lighter fluid in his hand. He lives dangerously for sure!
Sketchy!

We started our day off by getting coffee. Jlo gave his usual name “muska” to the coffee makers and they came out with this….”Oscar”. He was siked. Probably the best way to start off a day!

We went back to this spot but found out there is security waiting at the spot only for skateboarders. Sucked!

These dudes were bummed!

Saw this weird art thing at the city college. Don’t understand!

After the day of skating we had to drop off Sean at his place of work.

Subway!!

Not only is he good at skating but he can make a killer sub!

Fake ass pirates!

Me bummed on my white T after laying on the ground for about 20 minutes trying to get that angle.
We meet this dude Cody Sosebee while skating through the city. He just moved out here from Atlanta. He came out and got some stuff.
Cody skated the stair that most normally don’t. Nollie bigspin.
Cody showed us these fun ledges right by the water. He through down with this kickflip backlip 270 shuv. Killin it.
Jlo getting that warm up Done sequence.

This is how Jlo felt after his whole trip. Like a pile of shit! On the strugs for sure!
